Bike and Fish Experience

two people riding mountain bikes on trailWe are fortunate we can access many miles of abandoned logging trails which provide the opportunity to visit and explore a vast area of remote forests, streams and lakes.

Some of the terrain is hilly and adds to the challenge of reaching the end of the Inlet and mouth of the Tzoonie river. For some bikers who prefer flat terrain we can eliminate the hills with boat travel to the river. A great trail runs along the river for approximately 20 kms to Tzoonie Lake. An interesting feature is that trails exist on both sides of river which allow for new scenery and adventure both coming and going. The river is accessible from the bike trail at fishing sites.

For those wishing transportation to the river, the plan is to load bikes and up to six guests on boat early in AM for drop-off at river and return for pickup early evening or preferably guests can leisurely bike back to Tzoonie.

If you are planning to fish you must have freshwater licence and gear (casting or fly).

Mountain bike enthusiasts and nature lovers might want to watch the video from our gallery which highlights great biking and general info about Tzoonie and some of the recreational opportunities and facilities available.

Ocean Fishing

Although reef fishing has always been great; because of the ever decreasing limits on cod, red snapper, etc, the cost per fish is excessive and consequently we have placed less emphasis on small boat and motor rentals and charter fishing in general.  If fishing is your main interest you probably should visit a fishing lodge. Occasionally some members of visiting groups are particularily interested in fishing and we do make exceptions and take them out for an hour or two. This should be arranged in advance.

We can provide fishing gear or you might prefer to bring your own. Depending on what type of fishing you prefer, i.e. cod, snapper, etc or sea run cutthroat, we can provide you with info on type of gear to bring. This info should be requested a few days before coming to Tzoonie.

Many of our guests fish from kayaks or canoes by trolling or casting for cod or trout. Perch are plentiful from our docks to bait crab traps. which we will probably call on you to help set and lift and perhaps even prepare for the pot.

New Hiking Trails

Bluff and Beach trail

We are continually upgrading a new trail ( approx 6 kms) from our lodge to Storm Bay along abandoned logging trail ( great hike). thence downhill to gorgeous bluff overlooking Narrows and Sechelt inlets. From there you return to lodge along beach covered with starfish, oysters, clams and mussels with a shallow sandy point great for a swim and cool-off. We usually have a great guide available for this and other trails.

We have added another comfortable wall tent.  They are situated on ocean bank with spectacular views of the Inlet.
